The Meaning of Life 25th June 2010

You will, as you read this News Review, or are listening right now to it on selected radio stations and broadcast across the internet, become even more aware of the dreadful state this planet is in. When the planet was first created, and created it certainly was, the one who created it and everything in it, looked at it all and found it to be very good. But it wasn’t long before mankind became degenerate, debased
and vicious. Mankind just had not learned to control the human nature he had been given and he gave in to satanic influences. It was obvious that he was not going to turn around. As a result God decided to wipe the slate clean as it were and start again using Noah and his family, the only ones living who had remained true and faithful to God. Once again, the world is filled with violence, once again it is degenerate, debased and vicious. It is, however, different in one respect and that is mankind has had it made clear to him exactly how he is to behave. The examples of the past have all been recorded for his instruction. Added to which it has been made possible through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, God’s own son, for mankind, as he comes to realise the plan of God and to want what God wants for him, to have the invaluable aid of the spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, dwelling within him.

God said that he would not destroy all life from the face of the earth again, but it was now to be in the hands of individuals themselves as to whether they want what God wants for them or not. Or will they be hostile to God, if so, then as individuals their lives will end, destroyed by fire. This planet is very special and mankind, you, as you read this or hear it on radio, are offered a wonderful future. A future we cannot even begin to fully imagine.

EDUCATION?

The Daily Mail – 19th June – Schools ‘Must teach Darwin’ -- Evolution should be a compulsory subject for primary school pupils, 25 leading scientists have told the Government. In a letter to ministers, the academics attacked Education Secretary Michael Gove for dropping proposals to oblige schools to put Charles Darwin and his theory of how life evolved through natural selection on the timetable. Under Labour, teaching evolution would have become a legal requirement from next year. The signatories – including Professor Richard Dawkins …. said: ‘Evolution is the most fundamental idea underlying biological science. It is a key concept that children should be introduced to at an early stage.’

Our comment: Thankfully the new Education Secretary showed some good commonsense. Professor Dawkins and the Labour party would seem to have a similar agenda! The one actually appears to hate God, and the other tries to pervert the educational system in order to indoctrinate young minds.

G-20 MEETING

International Herald Tribune -- 21st June -- Grim reality hovers over G-20 meeting – If the economic recovery falters, there are no easy options left to bolster it. That is the grim reality facing the U.S. Federal Reserve and the Group of 20 world leaders as both meet this week to plot their policy course. …. The tough part is how to express its views on the (US) economy without giving false signals. The Citigroup economist Robert DiClemente said the Fed would want to acknowledge “new uncertainties” about the strength of the U.S. recovery. …. Reasons for the Fed to doubt the recovery include Europe’s simmering debt troubles, poor U.S. job growth and a wobbly U.S. housing market. …. Germany has led the charge for fiscal discipline, while the United States has urged its partners to secure the recovery first. But European debt troubles have blown up since the last G-20 summit in Pittsburgh in September, and that has changed the policy dynamic.

Our comment: The one big problem is that of China and its currency, the Yuan or Renminbi. There was a comment that …. “some analysts were sceptical that China would swiftly back up its words with actions. The Chinese were saying that they wanted to make the exchange rate with the Yuan more flexible – thus relieving some of the international pressure. It’s hardly surprising that it is Germany which is leading the move to financial discipline as the report said. Out of the 14 largest economies in the world, Germany has the lowest figure for inflation apart from Japan. Germany’s is 1.2 while Japan is minus 1.2. America is 2.2 with Britain at 3.4

OIL – THE REAL PRICE

The Observer – 20th June – Anger grows across the world at the real price of ‘frontier oil’ Far from the

Gulf of Mexico, campaigners accuse energy companies of polluting land and lives. – The eyes of the world are on BP after the disaster that left oil spewing into the Gulf of Mexico at the rate of 50,000 gallons a day. But campaigners accuse Big Oil of an appalling track record elsewhere in the world, saying it leaves a trail of devastation in its wake. From Nigeria to Kazakhstan in Central Asia, and Colombia and Ecuador in South America, the oil majors stand accused of a blatant disregard for local communities and the environments in which they operate. With demand for energy expected to surge as industrialisation accelerates in China, India and Brazil, critics say oil companies are taking ever-increasing risks to cash in on yet another bonanza. Two other factors ensure the dash for oil continues apace. One is growing concern in the developed world that, at some point in the next 30 years, demand could outstrip supply That means governments are under pressure to make it easier for firms to look for oil in inhospitable areas, whether in deep water off the US or in the tar sands of Canada. …. A spokesman for Greenpeace says: “Shell operates in 100 countries, but about 40% of spills are in Nigeria, which is quite incredible. There is evidence of sloppy management.” Shell rejects these charges.

Our comment: Hardly surprising Shell rejects them, they know they are guilty. As are the others. A further report concerns Ecuador, here the Amazon Defense Coalition claims Chevron holds the record for the world’s largest oil-related contamination in the populated Amazon rainforest – an even more sensitive eco-system than the marshes of Louisiana. God commanded mankind to dress and keep the land. Mankind has the responsibility to look after and take care of the planet. We are doing the exact opposite! We are destroying it and its people! So many examples – and it isn’t just oil. It’s also chemical and mineral plants. India is still waiting for the American company Union Carbide to pay for the cleaning up of the Bhopal area where their plant exploded. Compensation is still due to those who lost family members either from the explosion or from subsequent pollution. It would be welcome news to hear that the company was at last going to do the same thing as BP in America and immediately set aside multiple millions of dollars for cleaning up and recompensing those who lost businesses and homes. We doubt we shall hear such news, such is the cynicism of big business. There is a God in heaven who, one day in the not too distant future, is going to want an explanation for such callousness.

FAMINE

The Guardian – 16th June – Rising demand fuels fears of famine with food costs soaring over next decade. Thinktank blames biofuels and increasing prosperity. Fairtrade points to ‘stark warning’ for poor nations. Food prices are likely to rise by as much as 40% over the next 10 years amid growing demand from emerging markets and for biofuel production, according to a United Nations report that warns of famine and food shortages. …. Global agricultural output is likely to grow more slowly over the next decade than in the past 10 years, …. But….recent price rises and the economic crisis have contributed to an increase in food shortages. About 1 billion people are now estimated to be undernourished

Our comment: Part of the problem is the clearing of hundreds of square miles of trees in addition to existing farmland in order to plant soya which is now used to produce biofuel for cars, thus removing the farmland from the production of food. The problem of food shortages and removal of more farmland is further exacerbated by widespread drought, flooding, mining of minerals and opencast mining of all kinds. Continual wars also prevent the production of food, thus increasing famine.

PAKISTAN

The Sunday Times – 13th June – Pakistan puppet masters guide the Taliban killers. Growing evidence suggest the government in Islamabad arms the insurgents, gives them targets and has seats on their war council. ….Pakistani support for the Taliban in Afghanistan runs far deeper than a few corrupt police officers, however. …. It (the Taliban) is officially sanctioned at the highest levels of Pakistan’s government. Pakistan’s own intelligence agency, the ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence), is said to be represented on the Taliban’s war council.

Our comment: We first heard reports on the BBC World Service of the Taliban moving freely around Pakistan
And enjoying the co-operation and support of the Pakistan government. Pakistan is aiding the Taliban in its drive to take over Afghanistan. We need hardly mention that Pakistan is a nuclear power!
